She started her career by modelling for Kancheepuram silks, Erode silks and Lakshmi silks during her school years. In the 12th Standard, Tamil Director, Bharathiraja introduced her to the film industry.
She started her film career with her debut film in Kollywood called Kangalal Kaithu Sei alongside actor Vaseegaran. The one film which finally brought her much needed success and fame was Paruthiveeran, opposite Karthi. Her character Muthazhagu got her the National Award for Best Actress.
With the mixed performance of her films, she still enjoys moderate success in Mollywood. From time to time, she amazes her fans with some spectacular performances.
Priyamani also tried her luck in the Bollywood film industry. She made her debut in the Indian film industry with Mani Ratnam’s “
Raavan”. She also appeared in an item number “1 2 3 4 Get on the Dance Floor” in the Bollywood film “Chennai Express”.
She got engaged on 27th May 2016 to her boyfriend Mustafa Raj in a private ceremony that took place at her Banashankari residence in Bengaluru. Priyamani and Mustufa Raj are expected to tie the knot at the end of this year.
